EmpyreanMedia was founded by Stephen L. Garrett.
Stephen was the Senior Visual Media Producer in the Office of Marketing and Communications at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN until December 2013. Prior to working for Sewanee, Stephen worked as a freelance videographer and photographer, specializing in international development and domestic non-profit, university, and medical communications. After completing an assignment as a US Peace Corps Environment volunteer in Madagascar, Stephen pursued an internship with Digital Development Communications, which is based in Antananarivo, Madagascar's capitol. This experience introduced Stephen to video production and took him across the island working as a field producer on environmental films and public health campaigns. After returning to the US in 2008, Stephen's work has taken him to 13 countries as a field producer - including trips to Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Malawi, and Uganda - for various organizations, such as the Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Academy for Educational Development, and ABT Associates. His field production work for the Ford Foundation Visionaries series and the Pioneers of Prosperity entrepreneurship competition have given him the chance to travel across the US and the Caribbean. Stephen is passionate about multimedia - and has experience in every aspect of production. He holds a BA in Conservation Studies from The University of the South.
Stephen is Senior Producer at DDC International in Chapel Hill, NC.
